Franca Lanni was born in Città della Pieve (PG). She lives and works in Naples, and she has taught Perception theory and Psychology of the form at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Nola (NA).
After several years of work tied to oil painting on canvas, during which she participated in numerous group exhibitions, from 1994 onward she oriented her research towards the computer manipulations of her paintings.
She has written: “Traditional space disappears, and thus new boundaries are redrawn between the inside and the outside, between real and imaginary, creating a work expressive of a reality transformed in its parameters both perceptive and conceptual”.
Laura Turco Liveri writes about her: “It is a new synesthesia, in fact, that on which Franca works, starting from visual perception as an immediate stimulus of other perceptions, unusual and more directly connected with the profound base of our nervous system. For example, looking at her works, through the succession of eye-stomach sensations, one arrives at a tactile perception – between virtual and sensitive – of materials seemingly real, with their own
temperatures and sounds (such as a water). At the same time, a mental and associative process of memory and of confrontation with other realities is triggered; realities that are virtual, conceptual or psychophysical, as they may be. It is last ruse, this mental, moreover, that leads each viewer to his own conclusions, dimensions, and personal states of being. In addition, this trick constitutes, in art and in this case, a crucial element for the direct relationship between the viewer and the work” 1.
Works of Franca Lanni are in public and private collections, for example: Pinacoteca Comunale “Massimo Stanzione”
