About His Art

Carmelo Fabio D’Antoni – The painter of the Dolce Stil Novo. Art Master Carmelo Fabio D’Antoni, founder of the “Stilnovista” painting movement, was born in Catania on 20/11/1980. From a very young age his natural talent, and his passion for art, led him into the workshops of the most renowned masters of Catania, to learn the secrets of the noble art of marble sculpture. The master, despite his young age, immediately developed strong creative gifts, carving works of remarkable quality and artistic flair, highly appreciated by patrons. As he grew, his natural artistic talent also evolved in painting, creating works of striking impact and great artistic sensitivity, in form and spirit, of the human figure; proving to be a sensitive portraitist, yet with strong strokes and the expressiveness of long, deep, penetrating gazes. Thus began the master’s artistic career, which over the years has evolved into steady, continuous growth in the international art world, exhibiting in various Museums, Foundations and Galleries in Rome, Florence, Turin, Messina, Bonn, Baden-Baden, Cologne, Berlin, Chicago, Miami, Vienna, Prague, Sofia, etc.

Stilnovist Artistic Movement

The movement is born by reinterpreting, in a pictorial key, the philosophy of the poets of the Dolce Stil Novo. It becomes a true philosophy of thought aimed at restoring dignity and value to the female figure, who is an inspiration of strength, courage and honor in facing life’s difficulties. D’Antoni’s is meant as a simple tribute to the women in his life who have always supported him. In a society in which women are seen as objects, it seeks to bring to light their most intrinsic aspects. In his works, D’Antoni finds deep inspiration in the Woman’s strong, angelic soul—sometimes nude but never vulgar, always ethereal—through time, beyond the oldest view: woman as the heart of the family. Despite her immense strength and will, she has often been a victim of exploitation and injustice; this HAS LED the artist’s sensitivity to become the champion and promoter of a “stilnovist” pictorial movement, made of works worthy of being seen not as tools, but as living, strong creatures who demand courtly love through their eyes, which, though seeming severe, follow the viewer, conveying the vivid, clean and respectful human spirit.

The Artist thus defines himself as a Painter of the Dolce Stil Novo, portraying with his brushstrokes on canvas his inspiring muses.
