On Art
Franco Cattapan was born in Belluno on October 31, 1959. He graduated from the Art Institute of Cittadella (Padua) and later attended various artists’ studios, specializing in figurative painting. After exploring different artistic experiences (from portraiture to Neorealism), for some time now he has devoted himself to a surrealist-pop genre, using various techniques: from egg tempera to oil, from mixed media to fresco.
Former president of the “Arte Libera” Circle of Castelfranco Veneto, he has exhibited in countless shows, both solo and group, in Italy as well as in cities of other countries, European and beyond, receiving many prestigious awards. The artist, author in 2003 of the banner for the Feltre (Belluno) equestrian Palio, has been holding drawing and painting courses for several years.
He created several frescoes in both public and private places.
At the request of authors and publishers, he created illustrations for literary works, and some of his pieces were selected to furnish TV and film sets.
The artist’s works have been featured in various publications, catalogs and specialized magazines.
Exhibitions and works, in some cases with in-studio appearances or interviews, have been reviewed by daily newspapers such as: “Il Gazzettino”, “La Tribuna di Treviso”, “Il Mattino di Padova”, “Il Corriere delle Alpi”, “Il Tirreno”, “Il Giorno”, “Suddeutsche Zeitung” and “Il Corriere del Veneto”; magazines and newspapers such as “Monsieur”, “Treviso c’è”, “Il Piave”, “Qui Risparmio”, “La Piazza”, “Raixe Venete”, “Occhi”; TV broadcasters such as: Rai2, Canale Italia, Antenna 3 Nordest, La 8, La 9, Televenezia, Telenordest, Teleregione and Telealtoveneto, and radio stations such as: Radio Radicale, Radio Company, Radio Padova, Radio Veneto 1, Radio Conegliano, Radio Belluno.
