Susanna Yang was born in South Korea in 1975. From an early age she has always been passionate about drawing. She enrolled at university, specializing in fashion design. Painting is a great passion for her; having not attended the Fine Arts faculty, she began her artistic career as a self-taught artist. Her painting is not tied to any scheme, allowing her to develop her own technique. For Susanna, the art of drawing is the only way to reconnect the soul and express her deep emotions. Through her works she manages to find relief and, at the same time, be a comfort and a guide for others, putting all the energy of her soul into them. In her works Susanna uses tones that stir the heart and express anguish and pain with a trembling hope.
Review for Susanna Yang by Rosa Didonna, art expert with a degree and specialization in art history
Susanna Yang, in the latest trends, states that in your artistic research, everything is reduced to the essential: a disarming synthesis for its simplicity and emotional impact; your works are direct, clear, fresh, welcoming, and compelling in their dynamic rhythm. The pairing of colors is dynamic too, and in their imperfect construction they gift us a courageous, lyrical perfection. A stylistic perfection is evident, through an intentionally imperfect style, outlining the decisive, pervasive character of the concept expressed; everything is what it has been, in a process of simplification that makes communication more immediate. Her style asserts itself, like oil reaching the outskirts, permeating the narrative imagination; there is no metaphor to spell out, it is a unicum that speaks of the warmth of home, the scents and flavors of one’s own land. The brush is in constant motion, highlighting the certainty of the theme. The brushstroke is soft, supple, warm, and enveloping. Painting as risk and adventure, not execution. Careful refinement of the mark and detail, present in the abstract paintings. Expressive freedom in the pairing of colors prevails; paradoxically, in the search, everything is completed in an instant, in a balance of forms. The genre painting belongs to the Informal art movement.
