.....Freshness, brightness, the beauty of simplicity, serenity, the clarity of the stroke, the perfection of detail, and mastery of technique characterize the works of the artist Concetta Carleo.
The apparent simplicity of the settings and depictions comes from a command of technique, evident both in the overall view of the work and in observing the careful, refined research of details.

The spontaneity of the figures’ poses and the atmosphere of the setting constantly let a sensuality show through—almost a disquieting wink to the senses, a gentle eroticism that emerges in every brushstroke and in the sinuosity of the forms....

  Dr. S. Telese

.....Carleo paints beauty, nature, its shadows, its flashes, its trembling languors, its voluptuous invitations, its embraces, far away. And its fading horizons, vivid and muted, misty, lush, rarefied; the sunlight, clear and washed in half-tones, in chiaroscuro; the wandering, dimmed moon over the sea—all connect, with stubborn resistance, to human joy and suffering.
Harmonic color becomes an ethereal pulse; beauty seems to withdraw, to fade and moan, to shine, to sparkle, to exhaust itself.
And solitude, melancholy, existential unease stand out, clear, beyond real substance; they become voices, loud and faint and then whispers; feeble longings, chirps, murmurs, rustles, deliriums.
The artist, with measured technical wisdom, seeks and finds compositional balance.
Color is bestowed with restrained balance. Tones decline, slide one over the other without discord, without imbalance. The sinuous, pliant, compliant line sharply defines the color.
It follows it, guides it, merges into it, dissolves, withdraws, disappears. And harmony reigns absolute, amid superhuman silences, spaces circumscribed yet immense, dispersing, far away, amid tender backdrops and expectations scratched onto the screen of memory, in a light and disjointed weave, passionate with a yearning for the sublime beyond the corrosive and impenetrable substance of everyday life.
Concetta Carleo, with a cursus honorum studded with prestigious recognitions, refines her artistic communication, seeking new expressive modulations that evoke her artistic world without outright upheavals. Her silences, the fragility, the defenselessness of modern man, abandonments, discouragements, renunciations, silences will again find their crystallization in her colors, in her precious luminism, in her subtle, shifting transparencies, in her shimmering veins, in the aristocratic pulses of her soul reflected on the canvas.
