About Her Art
…Instinct, passion, freedom. These are the key elements in the works of Fiamma Morelli, an internationally renowned artist and considered among the finest interpreters of conceptual informalism. Like thoughts swept along by a hurricane that never rests, her brushstrokes move: taut, broken and curving, in dense, brilliant colors. They are voiceless words that burst from the canvases to fill, soothe and heal every need to express oneself…
Fiamma Morelli was born in Orbetello, Tuscany, and trained at the “Duccio Buoninsegna” Art Institute in Siena. Fascinated by Flemish-inspired hyperrealism, the first phase of her artistic path followed those routes, favoring, in particular, those leading toward Surrealism and Metaphysical art. Fiamma Morelli is, however, a curious, sensitive artist in constant evolution. She later drew closer to Eastern culture and learned ancient techniques, eventually adopting the use of the palette knife, the Chinese brush and intaglio engraving. Then came the great change, the warmest, most prolific and truest season: the artist reached full maturity with abstract expressionism. Free at last from every academic rule, unbound from any demand for order and adherence to reality, the artist follows only her inner impulses… Vittorio Sgarbi 2014
