Her Biography
I was born in Constantinople, and at the age of ten I left my birthplace due to difficult political circumstances and settled with my family in Greece. My love for the visual arts began in my childhood in the city, through a family environment with a strong artistic element. The blend of colors on silk, my father’s work as a painter, sparked my love for color and tonal values. So I felt the need to engage more deeply with the art of painting. That’s why I attended five years of painting lessons in XANTHI and took part in many group exhibitions. Later, for several years, I continued in the workshops of the painters K. Dimitriadou, A. Zambetoglou and E. Chinitidou. Inspired by the scents and colors of the East where I was born, combined with the landscapes of the countries I traveled to, I kept painting, trying to capture various images that impressed me, especially the landscapes of Greece. I will not forget the first image of my childhood, which has remained indelible in my memory, on the Prince Island of the Bosporus. A painting teacher with his adult pupils and their caps came to paint a fishing tavern built on piles in the sea—an enchanting depiction of simplicity on canvas. This image of the sea always followed me in my artistic pursuits.
